The Laboratory of Physics, Optoelectronics and Telecommunications Measurement

It is a basic laboratory consisting of several sub-laboratories for physics, electronics, optoelectronics, and telecommunications metrology. For students, this laboratory allows students to conduct simulation experiments during the learning process

  • Serving students:

Students of Computer Science major in Level 1 (Bachelor Degree) and Level 2 (Master Degree) can use the laboratory to perform IT experiments for telecommunication systems. In addition, the laboratory is also used for the implementation of Technical Thesis and Engineering Thesis.

Through the experiments carried out in the laboratory, students gain deep knowledge of LAN and WAN computer networks.

Fiber-optic technologies are rapidly being used in modern computer networks. There is a significant labor shortage of professionals to operate fiber optic welders and technicians to connect optical fiber junctions and assess fiber quality. As a result, UITM’s computer technology department students may seek employment after graduation.

Equipment:

  • FSM18S fiber optic welder from Fujikura with equipment and tools for cable preparation.
  • The kit allows for the fiber optic cable preparation after welding and creating the welds.
  • Fluke Networks DTX-1200 120 CableAnalyzer Smart Remote performs extended certification of high-speed networks and measures the parameters of fiber optic cable.

Serving the business :

The Laboratory of Physics, Optoelectronics, and Telecommunications Measurement performs a variety of experiments in telecommunications, computer networks, and industrial systems, in particular:

Analysis of mechanisms to ensure the reliability of telecommunications networks.

Assess the stability of industrial systems when operating under complex conditions.

Development and integration of wired and wireless network detection and measurement systems.
